by Personnel Today 27 May 2008

Softscape, the global leader in integrated people management software, today announced a myriad of new software enhancements with Softscape Apex 2008, the industry’s most comprehensive human capital management solution.

This latest release builds on over twelve years of pioneering innovation and adds new functions across Talent Acquisition, Workforce Performance, Learning and Development, and a compelling new approach to view the workforce and its capabilities within the organisation.

Recognised by industry analysts as the most comprehensive HCM solution, Softscape’s inherently integrated, highly configurable platform connects critical workforce processes into a single system to more effectively measure and manage an organisation’s workforce.

Softscape Apex 2008 continues Softscape’s dedication to customers by enabling deeper insight and visibility across a company’s entire workforce to improve employee engagement and drive business performance.

“Organisations are disbanding their legacy point solutions to circumvent costly integration challenges and are moving towards a single, integrated people management software platform,” said Christopher Faust, Softscape executive vice president of global strategy.

“Over eighty percent of our new customers this year are choosing more than two integrated suites in their initial deployment, and thirty six percent choosing more than three.”

Expanding on Softscape’s extensive configuration foundation and superior user experience, new features within Softscape Apex 2008 include:

Talent Map
Softscape’s interactive Talent Map provides an in-depth, multi-level view of a company’s entire workforce.

Leveraging dynamic data views, Softscape’s Talent Map provides easy access to the structures and reporting relationships within an organisation.

Users can instantly drill down into detailed levels of granularity with the fluid zooming tool to quickly view individual capabilities, performance history, career paths, and other detailed talent information.

With Softscape’s robust security model supporting the proper rights and permissions, this new function transforms how organisations plan and manage their global talent.

People Centric Views
Softscape’s comprehensive Talent Profile has been further expanded to provide a new definitive “talent-based system of record” for managers, employees, and human resources administrators, enabling them to view detailed information about the employee.

People Centric Views includes; core employee record details, task summaries, performance history, career preferences, awards, certifications, professional experience, payroll history, absence history, equipment and security details, and many other employee specific details in a single, secure location within an easy to use navigation structure.

Ratings Distribution Management
New performance Ratings Distribution Management within the Softscape Workforce Performance suite ensures that the dissemination of performance scores is more consistent across the organisation.

Softscape Workforce Performance with RDM ensures that employees are rated consistently and fairly across the entire organisation.

As a result, incentive and reward initiatives are applied more appropriately to high performers.

Enhanced Compliance Management
Softscape’s enhanced compliance management within the Softscape Learning & Development suite tracks compliance-related training programs and allows human resources administrators to automatically remind employees to enrol and participate.

Its flexible e-mail configuration tools also allow administrators to send messages based on the employees’ level of compliance or escalate issues to their managers.

User Experience Themes
Softscape also offers configurable interface skins enabling individual users to change how they view and interact with the software at their convenience.

The system comes with a variety of interface themes, and customers can populate the theme library with any assortment they choose.

All New Talent Acquisition Suite
Ideal for companies operating on a global scale, Softscape’s all new Talent Acquisition suite streamlines the entire recruiting and hiring lifecycle from requisition to candidate selection and on-boarding.

New features include; job distribution tools to populate online job boards, resume parsing tools, automatic HRMS integration and on-boarding best practices, compliance and audit controls, and dozens of new standard reports and dashboards.

Additionally, new integration to Microsoft Outlook is provided for scheduling and calendaring to allow recruiting professionals to easily schedule and manage candidate meetings with hiring managers directly within Outlook.

“Softscape’s integrated approach to strategic people management offers the flexibility to link every component of the employee lifecycle to gain unprecedented insight into the overall performance of an organisation’s workforce,” said Dave Watkins, chief executive officer, Softscape.

“When customers are equipped with this critical information, they can make better decisions about their people and their operations. The end results are more effective business strategies, increased productivity, and more engaged and higher performing employees.”
