The HR chief of outsourcing giant Capgemini has spoken of the importance of working with transferred staff in making a deal work.
HR director Robert Ingram said lots of effort was needed to get staff motivated after they are transferred to outsourcing providers.
Capgemini has a global workforce of more than 15,000. It looks after back-office functions for many large private and public sector clients in the UK.
Ingram said: “Where there is an outsourcing deal with transfer of people, it is much more likely to be successful if those people join the new company with the right support, and are optimistic about their future.

“None of them will have chosen to join the new employer so special efforts have to be made to win the support of the workforce, and allay their natural fears.”
Ingram said he often sets up meetings between newly transferred staff and existing workers to help the process. Outsourcing was still growing steadily, he added.
