Staff motivation is key benefit of flexibility

Almost
70 per cent of 69 organisations polled by IRS have received at least one
request to change an employee’s working arrangements since the flexible working
laws were introduced in April 2003.

Nearly
42 per cent of the employers that received the enquiry granted the employee’s
request, while 54 per cent offered alternative arrangements. Only 4 per cent
said no.

Nearly
54 per cent of the employers polled cited staff retention as one of the top
three objectives for introducing flexible working, while more than a third
cited introducing it to attract more recruits.
