At a time when HR budgets are being squeezed and HR teams reduced to the minimum (‘HR forced to neglect business areas as economic slow down continues’, Personneltoday.com, 17 June), it comes as no surprise that the survey by Ochre House found that many HR departments are restricting activity in strategic HR areas such as leadership development, productivity, retention and growth, because of the need to allocate limited resources to recruitment and basic HR services.
It would appear that while many companies understand the benefits of realising the potential of every employee, they have yet to appreciate that there is an alternative to outsourcing HR functions, and that strategic programmes to nurture the individual and maximise retention can be implemented cost-effectively, in-house, through modern employee feedback software.
