Thames Valley Police sets up support group for gay and lesbian staff

Thames Valley Police force is launching a new staff support association for gay and lesbian officers and staff.

Thames Valley Gay Police Association was set up after a gap in the provision of local support for gay and lesbian staff was identified.

The association aims to support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender staff, tackle and reduce homophobic behaviour in the workplace, provide operational support to the force and work with external communities.

Superintendent Robin Rickard, the diversity lead for Thames Valley said: “A steering group was set up in September to ensure the association was formed correctly, efficiently and with a clear purpose. I am proud of the progress they have made any look forward to seeing the association go from strength to strength.”

The official launch will take place next Wednesday at Aylesbury College.
