Lee Avery, HR and organisational development director, Black Country Chamber
and Business Link
As the HR and organisational development director at the Black Country
Chamber and Business Link, Lee Avery oversees HR for staff at the organisation,
formed by the merger of several agencies.
The agency acts as a business support service offering help to all companies
within the region.
Avery says: "In my current position, I have a much wider role as a
member of the executive team and as the director responsible for leading the
organisation in human resources, training, organisational development, quality
systems, health and safety and premises and facilities management."
In his role, he has helped merge nine organisations into one business and is
concentrating on helping to create a stable environment to move the business
forward. "The key objective – the merger – has been achieved and nearly
all staff have opted to accept the new companies’ terms," he says.

"Our challenge now is to upgrade the skills and competencies of all of
our people, particularly in operating account management effectively, while
developing the support mechanisms and information sources in the business to
support this new approach."
In the future, he is most looking forward to implementing a new remote
working strategy, which he claims is critical to the success of the business.
