A teacher who claims he was sacked for challenging his pupils’ racist remarks is set to have his case heard at tribunal today.
Nicholas Kafouris, a Christian, said some pupils at the predominantly Muslim Bigland Green Primary School where he had taught for 10 years had made antisemitic remarks, praised Islamic extremists in class, and hailed the September 11 terrorists as “heroes and martyrs”, according to the East London Advertiser.
Greek-born Kafouris said his concerns were ignored by the headteacher at the school in Shadwell, east London, and the way he was treated led to stress and depression.
