Half of UK employees travel more than an hour to work each day, according to a poll by staffing services company Select Appointments.
The poll results suggest that UK workers are willing to commute a considerable distance for the job they want.
Only 19% of respondents benefit from a commute of 15 minutes or less, highlighting the fact that living and working in the same area is a declining luxury.
Kay Fletcher, operations director at Select Appointments, said she was constantly being told by candidates that they are willing to travel for the right job.

“This employee flexibility is beneficial to both companies and jobhunters,” she said. “Employers have a wider candidate base from which to recruit and jobseekers have more roles to choose from – ultimately leading to more long-term working relationships.
“Interestingly, the results of this poll are almost identical to last year’s poll, highlighting the fact that although work-life balance has become an important issue for employees, their commute to work has not changed.”
