Unison launches TV advertisement campaign to promote union membership

Unison has launched a TV advertising campaign promoting the importance of union membership.

Unison is the UK’s largest public sector trade union, representing more than 1.3 million people across a wide range of public services. The ‘One in a Million’ ad is part of the union’s campaign to boost that figure to 1.5 million by the end of 2007.

The ad depicts a female care worker approaching her chief executive. Followed by a long line of union members, she reaches the office and coughs to attract her boss’s attention. The cough turns into a rumble, echoed by the people behind her.

Unison general secretary Dave Prentis said: “The ad sums up the key reason why hard-working people should join a trade union.”
