The union Unite has called for immediate meetings with the new owners of London Gatwick Airport, to safeguard workers’ terms and conditions following the news of its sale by BAA.

BAA has agreed to sell London Gatwick Airport to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) for £1.51bn.
Brian Boyd, national officer for civil aviation at Unite, said: “Our primary objective now is to meet with the Global Infrastructure Group as soon as possible to ensure that the safeguards we associate with the continued employment of our members at the country’s second largest airport are in place.”
