Wife swapping won’t swing with the judge

AA Business Services (AABS), the corporate wing of The AA breakdown company, has warned employers that staff are increasingly involved in illegal ‘point-swapping’ scams to avoid licence penalties and driving bans.

AABS said practices such as subordinates taking speeding points to save senior members of staff from losing their licence were a particular problem where there was no designated driver on a company car or van.

Some employees even asked their wives who were registered on company car insurance to take the rap for them.

Paul Holmes, head of risk management at AABS, warned that lying about who was driving was perverting the course of justice and could lead to a prison sentence.
