with children are the fastest growing sector of the labour market, according to
figures released by trade and industry secretary Patricia Hewitt.

employment rate of mothers with children under five rose by 10.5 per cent to
53.9 per cent between 1999 and 2001.
During
the same period, the employment rate for men rose 0.3 per cent.
