Tribunal watch: £50,000 awards for insolvent firm’s redundancy consultation failures

A Northern Ireland tribunal has found that staff who were made redundant at Canadian firm Nortel are entitled to payments for unfair dismissal of more than £50,000 each. However, the claimants are unlikely to receive anything because the firm has gone into administration, despite the company’s redundancy consultation failures. Stephen Simpson rounds up the past week’s tribunal claims.

Nortel: redundant workers “entitled to £50,000 A tribunal has held that staff who lost their jobs at the Nortel factory in County Antrim are entitled to payments of more than £50,000, according to the BBC.
