National workforce expert joins consultancy

by Personnel Today 8 Oct 2008
by Personnel Today 8 Oct 2008

Leading national workforce planning expert Wyn Jones has joined Organisation Development Services (ODS) – a rapidly growing consultancy specialising in change management and organisation development in the public sector.

Wyn took up the post of Senior Consultant at ODS after 19 years working in high profile managerial roles within the NHS and the Department of Health.

A nationally-recognised expert in strategic workforce planning systems and processes, he recently worked with the Department of Health on Lord Darzi’s high-profile review of the NHS.

Formerly Workforce Planning Manger for NHS Yorkshire and the Humber, he has delivered evidence to the House of Commons Select Committee on workforce planning issues, and has chaired the group responsible for designing the nationally-recognised Post Graduate Certificate in Workforce Planning.

Wyn’s arrival has had an immediate impact at ODS, helping the consultancy secure a new contract to provide strategic workforce advice to three Merseyside Primary Care Trusts  (Liverpool, Sefton and Knowsley) as they implement ambitious plans for new buildings and services.

Established in 2005, ODS advises clients across the NHS and local government – helping them to translate complex public policies into workable actions on the ground.

Services range from workforce planning and organisation development to training and coaching.

Wyn said: “I had been tremendously impressed with ODS while working in-house for the NHS, so I’m thrilled to now be part of the team.

“This is a company with a real understanding of the human resource challenges facing organisations in the public sector as they respond to national policy agendas.”

Joint managing director of ODS, Carol Brooks, said: “Wyn brings a wealth of senior experience to the consultancy.  As a leading expert in workforce planning, he will play a vital role in developing our already very successful workforce planning model to the next stage.”
