Modernisation creates new occupational risks

Changes in society and work are creating new types of occupational risks, the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work has said. It found a lack of physical activity, increasingly complex new technologies and a greater vulnerability of low-status workers were all issues that needed to be addressed.

Black African and Caribbean people are more likely to use mental health in-patient services than the general population, a census has found. They are also more likely than most to be admitted under the Mental Health Act and, once in hospital, more likely to experience seclusion or physical restraint.
