This week marks the launch of the most prestigious event in the HR calendar: the Personnel Today Awards 2013.
As the longest-running awards for the HR profession, they recognise HR teams and individuals that have made an impact with their people policies and have delivered tangible benefits to their organisation.
If your HR department has spearheaded an innovative project, driven down costs, been courageous in implementing change or achieved great results in the past 18 months, then you could be a winner of one of our 18 coveted awards.
The 2013 Awards include two brand new categories, HR Professional of the Year and Youth Employment Initiative.
The HR Professional of the Year becomes our fourth category to recognise individuals in HR, alongside our coveted HR Director of the Year, our increasingly popular HR Team of the Year, and our HR Newcomer of the Year, formerly known as the HR Rising Star. All four are sponsored by Monster.
The Youth Employment Initiative award will recognise programmes that have attracted talent to organisations that may have otherwise gone untapped. Relevant to this category are apprenticeships, traineeships, internships, graduate programmes and other types of recruitment and development of workers aged between 16 and 24 years.
Personnel Today editor Rob Moss said: “With so much focus on the issues of youth unemployment and underemployment, we felt it was important to launch this category to recognise those organisations that are really excelling in this field.”
Last year, nuclear energy operator Magnox walked away with the night’s gold trophy after being judged overall winner, which followed its triumph in the Award for Talent Management. Karen Walkden, head of HR delivery at Magnox said: “We’ve been putting so much effort into skills for the future of the nuclear industry. I can’t tell you what it means to win this award.”

All shortlisted teams are invited to attend a pre-awards drinks party in September, as well as the dazzling awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane on 18 November 2013. Previous guest hosts have included Hugh Dennis, Jack Dee and Rob Brydon.
Each category is independently judged by well-respected industry figures. Judging begins after the entry deadline on 14 June 2013 and category shortlists are announced in August.
