Barry Towell has been appointed HR manager for the Meningitis Trust – the meningitis charity. He joins from Stroud District Council where he worked for 22 years as a personnel and training manager. He is a CIPD member, and has an MSc in HR management.
The Management Standards Centre, an organisation within the Chartered Management Institute, has appointed David Weaver to lead its promotion of the new national occupational standards for management and leadership. Prior to this, Weaver was responsible for the administration of the Modern Apprenticeship in Management scheme in England, Scotland and Wales.
Minister for women, Patricia Hewitt, has appointed four new commissioners to the Equal Opportunities Commission. Evelyn Asante-Mensah, Mohammed Aziz, Catherine Brown and Frances Hasler will take up their posts over the next two months.
Roberta Wheeler (pictured) has joined contract catering company Aramark as HR director. Prior to this, she was group HR director for property company Land Securities and a main board director at Land Securities Trillium.
