‘IT disabled’ set to benefit from improved BBC website

computing and disability charity AbilityNet is training BBC staff to improve
the accessibility of bbc.co.uk to help it reach the broadest possible audience.

Nearly five million people in the UK
are "IT disabled" ­- meaning they cannot access the internet with a
standard screen, keyboard and mouse due to a vision or hearing impairment,
physical disability, cognitive difficulty or dyslexia.

So far, nearly 300 members of the bbc.co.uk web production
team have attended the AbilityNet course.
