Unemployment
figures are at the lowest levels for almost 30 years according to the latest
figures from the Office for National Statistics.
Jobless
figures dropped by 36,000 in the three months to December, bringing the total
of people without a job to a 27-year low of 1,560,000.
The
number of people claiming benefits also dropped by 3,500 to 928,500.
However,
the manufacturing sector has been hit hard with employment dipping to the worst
levels since 1985.
The
number of jobs in the troubled sector fell by nearly 150,000 in the three
months to December.
