How can this salary [for the director-general of the CIPD] be justified? (Personnel Today, 1 May).
I have been a member of the CIPD for 10 years, and will be thinking very seriously about renewing my membership. The CIPD is not the ‘be all and end all’ within the HR environment.
I know many individuals who have sat and read through countless books and submit projects to gain the qualification without even being operational. Because I am not a graduate, I cannot get full membership, yet have many years’ experience of HR.
Someone is making a lot of money out of us members, and now I can see where some of my membership fees are going. It would be good to know if this is the standard being set with director-generals of other organisations.
What do business owners think of this? I am sure they will be alarmed and waiting for HR professionals to ask for more.
