Add value or become extinct, HR professionals told

HR
departments must be able to demonstrate that they add value to the business or
they will not survive.

This
was the message from Andrew Banks, chief executive officer of TMP Worldwide,
speaking at the Boardroom HR conference in Birmingham today.

"HR
professionals have a major challenge that they need to respond to," he
said.

"They
have the opportunity to be dinosaurs or saviours. HR departments that are not
making a difference will go."

Banks
told the Personnel Today and TMP Worldwide event that senior HR professionals
must show leadership in taking their organisations forward.
