The new Theatre Education Centre (TEC), staffed by two qualified Army education instructors, offers courses in basic skills, such as numeracy and literacy, through to compulsory courses for promotion. It will also offer language support to help soldiers gain a better understanding of the Arabic language and culture.
Brigadier Mark Filler of the Army’s Directorate of Educational and Training Services, said: “The opening of the TEC in Basra reinforces the British Army’s aim to provide all soldiers and officers with access to both mandatory and elective education wherever they are stationed.”
