Employers
in the UK should be forced to offer pension schemes to staff, according to a
cross-party poll of MPs.
The
survey of 81 backbench politicians from the three main parties found the
majority were in favour of compulsory pensions.
Almost
eight in 10 said the Government should force employers to offer pension
provisions.
The
majority also agreed that employees should be compelled to save into the
workplace pension scheme.
The
Government recently ruled out compulsory provision in its pension Green Paper,
instead outlining plans for more flexibility over retirement age.
