Unions representing binmen in Lancashire have negotiated a £500 one-off payment for collecting rubbish over Bank Holiday weekends.
The agreement is costing Preston Council £35,000 with 70 binmen now working the five Bank Holidays between Good Friday and the end of August like normal working days.
They will also receive double time and one day off in lieu for each Monday worked.
The deal follows more than six months of wrangling between the council and trade unions, reports the Lancashire Evening Post.
The council previously rejected a union demand for treble pay, treble bonuses and a day off in lieu, instead offering double pay, double bonuses and a £350 one-off payment.
