A teacher who used a school computer to post racist comments on an online forum risks being struck off the teaching register.
A General Teaching Council (GTC) disciplinary panel heard yesterday how Adam Walker, a prominent British National Party (BNP) member, had referred to immigrants as ‘savage animals’ and ‘filth’. Walker resigned from his post as technology teacher at Houghton Kepier Sports College, near Sunderland, in 2007, when an investigation into his internet use was launched.

GTC presenting officer Bradley Albuery said: “This case is not about the BNP or whether teachers should be members of that lawful party. This case is about the actions and behaviour of a registered teacher, using school property on school premises in school time.”
Walker stressed in his statement to the panel that he had not communicated his political thoughts or beliefs to staff or pupils, the Times has reported.
