BP launches new and upgraded BP Plus fleet manager services

BP launches new and upgraded BP Plus online services for its fuel cards with rigorous control and security measures.

  • First UK fuel card to include revolutionary ‘alerts’ service

  • All 1,200 retail sites and 340,000 fuel cards PIN enabled

  • New downloadable on-the-road tools including sat nav downloads, online network guides & SMS site locator

  • New suite of Fuel Management Solutions.

BP has significantly upgraded the functionality of its BP Plus fuel cards, handing fleet managers greater freedom, security and control of their fuel purchasing and consumption.

Now it has introduced improved online services which include new, rigorous control and security measures thereby better enabling company car, van, truck and bus fleet managers to deal with fraud.

BP Plus fuel cards are the first UK fuel cards on the market to include the revolutionary ‘alerts’ service.  New BP Alerts gives fleet managers the ability to monitor all aspects of individual or collective fuel card use, including:

  • which sites drivers should use by region, site type e.g. motorway or non-motorway, or site name

  • when the card can be used either by date or time or both

  • the total account spending parameters or card limits.

BP Alerts sends an SMS or email to the fleet manager as soon as any of the set limits are breached.

BP has also recently completed the roll-out of PIN on its national network of retail sites that now accept PIN verification for all fuel card purchases.

All 340,000 BP PLUS fuel cards have also been PIN-enabled.  BP was the first fuel retailer to introduce Chip and Pin acceptance at forecourt sites during 2004, now it is bringing in PIN acceptance for its fuel card customers.

As an added security benefit, drivers can self-select their own PIN rather than being allocated a PIN which is an algorithm of their card number as is the industry standard.

BP Plus Online Services also includes some great new downloadable on-the-road tools for fleet drivers, including satellite navigation downloads, online network guides and an SMS BP network site locator.

Kathleen Callendar, business to business marketing manager for BP UK Fuels Marketing which operates the fuel card said: “Through advanced reporting, BP Plus Online Services gives fleet managers insights into an organisation’s fuel consumption and spend enabling them to control costs, reduce their carbon emissions and deliver savings that make a difference to both their bottom line and the environment.”

“The launch of PIN and Alerts is part of BP’s desire to align our fuel cards with industry card payment security standards and our commitment to delivering a more secure fuel card to our customers that allows them to take more control of their fuel card management,” she continued.

BP PLUS Online Services are a comprehensive range of advanced, online card and fuel management and reporting tools designed to meet the needs of every size and type of fleet.
