Businesses in Canary Wharf, London, will soon be offered a ‘one-stop shop’ for recruitment and training, giving the firms’ access to local residents and recent school-leavers early next year.
The centre will provide employers with access to local jobseekers and give them the opportunity to ‘sell’ their industry through organised events.
It will be run by Employment Solutions, an employment consortium, which includes Tower Hamlets Council, East London Business Alliance and Jobcentre Plus.
The consortium will target key employers within the area and screen potential candidates from the Tower Hamlets estates and surrounding areas.

Employment Solutions already has a number of significant clients including HSBC and Barclays. It will work in partnership with the property developer Canary Wharf Group and OCS property support service. Local jobseekers will be offered a range of training programmes geared towards specific sectors, such as finance and hospitality.
George Iacobescu, chief executive of the Canary Wharf Group, said: “Delivering supply and demand through this new centre will raise the profile and volume of work already successfully undertaken by the partnership and I am delighted Canary Wharf has been able to support local people into areas of job growth.”
