London firms will spend an average of £40 on each employee at this year’s office Christmas party, a survey reveals.
Most employers (71%) consider it a worthwhile expense, as they believe a party will help to foster team spirit and reward company loyalty.
But two in three directors polled said they would not turn a blind eye to those who failed to turn up for work the next day.
The London Chamber of Commerce polled 165 company directors. For about a third (35%), there will be no staff party this year.
The difference comes down to directors’ own attitudes towards festive celebrations, said the Chamber of Commerce.
