To allow for the pre-Christmas rush, the entry deadline for the National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) 2009/10 Awards has been extended from 11 December to 8 January – giving companies a further four weeks to enter their placement schemes.
As the recession drives more businesses to offer internships the firmly established annual NCWE Awards is now entering its seventh year and is the official event to showcase best providers of undergraduate work experience.
Spanning eleven categories, the Awards are open to organisations of all sizes and industries, including charitable and public sectors. Employers, students and careers advisers can nominate the organisations they feel epitomise best practice in work experience by visiting www.work-experience.org/awards.
Heather Collier, NCWE director commented: “The Christmas period is always a busy time for businesses and with more employers offering work placements due to the recession we’re expecting a record number of entries this year. We recognise the best of the experienced providers as well as newcomers and hope the extended deadline will give those unsure whether to enter that extra bit of encouragement.”
The NCWE Awards recognise, encourage and reward employers who take the lead in the provision of valuable work placement opportunities for students, and set high standards for others to follow by offering fulfilling work placements that help students develop their employability skills.
Entries will be assessed solely by online application and a maximum of six companies will be short-listed in each category. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony that will take place in London on 23rd March 2010.
