Dotcoms
are planning pay rises of nearly three times the national average in an attempt
to retain staff, according to a survey by Hay Management Consultants.
Base
salaries in dotcoms are set to increase by 9.7 per cent on average, compared
with an average projected increase across the industrial and service sector of
3.6 per cent.

The base
pay of the heads of dotcoms will rise sharply, with an average increase of 13.6
per cent.
Iain
Smith, management consultant at the company, said, “Share options now hold less
attraction. As a result, dotcoms are forced to increase base salaries by
percentages above the national average to remain competitive in the war for
talent.”
