The
Employee Share Schemes Bill looks set to become law in the autumn after
receiving its third reading in the House of Commons last week.
The
Bill will incentivise private companies to introduce employee share ownership
and also provide tax relief for Share Incentive Schemes.
One
of the advisers on the Bill, Graeme Nuttall, managing director of Equity
Incentives Ltd, said: "The Government has demonstrated its continued
commitment to encouraging employee share ownership through its support for this
Bill.
"It
looks as though it is only congestion in the parliamentary timetable, rather
than political objections, that could now prevent this Bill from making it onto
the Statute book."
