Workers from Burton’s Foods will meet employment minister Jim Murphy later today to discuss a way forward to prevent the loss of 660 jobs at its plant at Moreton on The Wirral.
Union leaders from the T&G section of super-union Unite will meet the minister this evening to discuss ways to keep the plant open, following a review of the biscuit makers manufacturing operations in May.

Franny Joyce, T&G section of Unite regional industrial organiser, said: “Support is strong from the local community but there’s no doubt we are facing a tough battle.
“Meeting the minister is a significant part of our campaign. We’ll make sure he knows the importance of the plant to the area and see what he can do to assist us,” Joyce said.
