Psychometric testing remains high on the agenda of many companies. This can make some employees rather disgruntled and can seem a bit like an invasion of privacy. Of course, there are ways round this if you are the victim.
Guru put down such a deranged commentary on his last psychometric test that superiors still look askance nervously and do everything they’re told for fear that Yours Truly might snap at any moment.
However, these invasions into one’s professional privacy pale in comparison to allegations made against legendary guitarist Carlos Santana.
An ex-personal assistant of the axe-grinder has filed an unfair dismissal claim against Santana and his company, claiming he was fired after his consciousness was “calibrated” and he was found to be wonting.
Bruce Kuhlman, 59, says the calibrating was done by ‘Doctor Dan’, who had been enrolled by Santana’s wife, Deborah. The lawsuit alleges she thought that “spiritual calibration” would allow her husband’s employees to develop a deeper level of consciousness -bringing them closer to God and making them better workers.

“In Deborah’s view, the higher a person calibrated with Dr Dan, the better employee they were because they were more ‘spiritually evolved’,” says the claim, filed in Marin Superior Court in California. The Santanas have said they will fight the lawsuit.
Guru hopes with all his heart that if this craze to test the ‘consciousness’ of staff spreads, the testing is all done before midday. Consciousness doesn’t factor high on his agenda after a few snifters at lunch.
