FirstCare strengthens lead in absence management market with acquisition of Active Health Partners

FirstCare, the UK’s leading absence management specialists, has acquired Active Health Partners (AHP) increasing the employees it services by 80% and taking a dominant position in the market. The increased volume of real time absence management data – over 100,000 employees – gives FirstCare the ability to build on specialist knowledge and use data to help large businesses reduce sickness absence.

Aaron Ross, CEO of FirstCare, says: “As well as enhancing the occupational health services we offer clients, the acquisition will allow us to offer their clients access to the tools we have developed that have helped reduce absenteeism so successfully.  We look forward to forming close relationships with our new clients and continuing to help our existing clients improve absence management practices so that they contribute positively to bottom line.


“This acquisition strengthens our position as a provider of absence management services and is an important step in the implementation of our ambitious growth strategy. It is an exciting time for FirstCare as we expand despite the current climate and a reflection of the excellent achievements since we started the business in 2004.”


With a strong list of commercial clients including British Gas and Coca-Cola Enterprises and already the largest provider to the NHS, the acquisition strengthens FirstCare’s presence across public sector organisations, in local government, and transport and logistics. This move enables FirstCare to provide the most accurate absence management information and positions FirstCare as the leading voice on absence management.
