The 2,000 workers at Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port car plant have been told they will avoid job cuts and revert to a three-shift working system by 2011, The Liverpool Daily Post has reported.

The plant’s owners, General Motors, announced yesterday (Thursday) that the plan to axe 9,000 jobs throughout the European business would not affect the Ellesmere Port workforce.
However, the decision to cut over 350 jobs at Vauxhall’s Luton plant will go ahead, the report added.
