Grass Roots launches bonusbond gift card

by Personnel Today 28 Jan 2008
by Personnel Today 28 Jan 2008

Grass Roots has launched a plastic version of its long standing bonusbond gift voucher – the first multi store gift card for the U.K market.

Operating on a closed loop Visa network, the card can be loaded with a sum of money of from £10 to £250, as specified by the client, and sent directly to the beneficiary. The card is valid for a period of 12 months and can be spent at many of Britain’s favourite retailers including Argos, Comet, Debenhams, H Samuel, HMV, Homebase, House of Fraser, PC World, Thomas Cook and Waterstones.

The card is backed by Alliance and Leicester who issue the new cards and manage banking and deposit taking facilities. Unlike paper based multi store vouchers, the retailers receive payment immediately from Visa.

“The consumer market has been showing a clear trend towards card based products over paper gift vouchers”, commented Grass Roots’ Head of Product Development, Jackie Barker. “We have a strong tradition of innovation at Grass Roots and feel the time is right to offer the bonusbond brand in a choice of formats for our clients”.

The bonusbond gift card joins a portfolio of Grass Roots plastic cards which serve strategic reward, grant giving and other industry specific, payment transfer requirements. Unlike the ‘pure’ range of cards, the bonusbond gift card is non-reloadable.
