Pay
deals in engineering and manufacturing firms are continuing to fall, according
to the Engineering Employers’ Federation.
Average
settlements for the three months to January fell by 0.1% to 2.3% compared with
the previous quarter.
The
EEF said more than 60 firms have frozen the pay.

David
Yeandle, the federation’s deputy director of employment policy, said:
"This continuing low level of pay settlements and high incidence of pay
freezes and deferred settlements is a further illustration of how firmly
depressed the engineering and manufacturing sector remains."
