Research
by recruitment firm Angels shows that even though some employers let staff
choose their own leaving present, 56 per cent of workers are disappointed with
their gift.
The
survey shows firms are more likely to give jewellery or alcohol as retirement
presents, rather than the traditional clocks and watches.
This
could be due to the fact that the majority of employees give only a few pounds
to a colleague’s leaving collection. Just one in 10 had given £10.
The
most common presents were cash, vouchers, jewellery, champagne, flowers, books
or vouchers for spar treatments or a bungee jump.
