Charnwood Borough Council in Leicestershire wants to reduce senior management posts from 28 to 18 in an effort to boost its annual budget by £500,000, the BBC reports.
The council has reportedly claimed that cutting the 10 posts will help it to protect frontline services at a time when significant reductions in government grants are being put in place.
The report added that unions and staff are to be consulted over the next few weeks before the plan goes to the council in November.
