Proposed
reforms in the way employers and workers resolve disputes have been backed by the
Lord Chancellor, Lord Irvine.
The
proposals – to modernise the tribunal process and make it more co-ordinated and
efficient – were recommended by an independent taskforce in July, and have also
gained the support of employment relations minister Alan Johnson.
Acas
and the employment tribunal system will now look at how the recommendations can
be integrated into the corporate planning process.
The
recommendations aim to improve the service by making the system’s procedures
faster and clearer providing more support on prevention and alternatives to
resolve the dispute helping users to understand the best way of using the
system.
