A McDonald’s scheme to give its 67,000 employees the opportunity to buy a range of bicycles and accessories at a discount of up to 60% is providng popular with staff.
In the run up to next week’s national Bike Week – the annual event that aims to encourage organisations and their employees to ditch cars and public transport and get cycling – McDonald’s revealed that its ‘On Your Bike!’ scheme, run in conjunction with Universal Cycles, has so far seen more than 400 bicycles sold since its launch on 1 May.
David Fairhurst, chief people officer at McDonald’s, said: “We launched the scheme because our employees told us they wanted us to help them to get active and be more environmentally friendly.

“Giving our employees and their friends and family access to great bikes at guaranteed low prices is a win-win, whether they use them to make their journey to work easier on the environment, or to go biking in their spare time to have fun and get active.”
