Milkround rated number one graduate recruitment website for second year running

by Personnel Today 9 Apr 2009

Milkround increases its lead as the UK’s most popular graduate recruitment website, according to the 2009 UK Graduate Careers Survey.

High Fliers quizzed more than 16,000 final year students from 30 leading universities about the jobsites they used during the 2008/09 academic year.

Milkround was found to be the most widely used commercial graduate recruitment website for the second year running, used by 38% of finalists – up three percentage points on last year. Nearest rival Prospects dropped one point to 33%.

The High Fliers report also stated visits to Milkround have increased by more than a third since 2006, and 80% of Milkround users rated it as ‘quite useful’ or ‘very useful’, up four points on 2008.

The report also revealed Milkround has the highest number of registered users compared with other graduate recruitment sites: nearly a third (31%) of finalists said they had signed up to receive emails.

The report states more than four-fifths of students who visited Milkround went on to register – proof of the confidence finalists have in the service.

Managing Director Tom Hughes commented:

“It’s no surprise we’re still at the top – the service Milkround offers to students and employers alike is stronger than ever. These results prove our radical redesign of the site last October has been warmly welcomed by our users and clients have been heaping praise on the new look with increased high profile branding spots.

“Final year students continue to hear about the latest vacancies directly through personalised emails and the site has 100s of graduate opportunities to choose from. Combined with our news and advice, Milkround remains the only graduate recruitment website a finalist needs.”

The news comes hot on the heels of Milkround’s latest ABCe audit which has seen an increase of nearly 20 percent in unique users during the key graduate recruitment period.

From October 2008 to February 2009, Milkround averaged 188,638 unique users per month, up 18% from 159,250 on the same period 12 months earlier.

Tom added:

“There has never been a better time to promote your range of opportunities to the UK’s best students and graduates on Milkround and our clients can be proud to be associated with a top brand going from strength-to-strength. We have proved we have the trust of their core candidate base again, and continue to strive to make our service even better for all who rely us, both users and clients.”
