More than nine in 10 UK employees will not receive a Christmas bonus this year, according to a survey by Select Appointments recruitment firm.
But 37% of employers are offering one week’s holiday over the festive season as an alternative, the poll of 1,200 workers showed.

Sandy Jarrett, strategy support manager at Select Appointments, said work-life balance was becoming increasingly important to employees.
“Companies are looking for new ways to motivate staff, aside from financial rewards. Longer holidays give families more time to spend together, which is one of the most important parts of Christmas for many people,” she said.
