NHS Employers membership model offers extra benefits to trusts

by Mike Berry 2 Sep 2009
by Mike Berry 2 Sep 2009

NHS Employers has developed a new membership model to give NHS trusts access to a broad range of additional benefits.

The body was formed five years ago to represent trusts on pay and workforce issues. Its trustees have now approved the move for NHS Employers to become a membership organisation by offering subscriptions for NHS organisations to access additional products and services from April 2010.

These additional benefits will be offered alongside the free services that NHS Employers will continue to offer to all trusts in England as part of its contract with the Department of Health.

Two levels of membership will be offered to trusts, with enhanced membership offering NHS HR teams access to ‘pay as you go’ professional HR products and services, a comprehensive online recruitment system, and an electronic criminal record background-checking service (e-CRB) to employers.

Sian Thomas, director of NHS Employers, said: “The decision to develop a new membership model is the result of extensive research and discussion with NHS organisations over the past year and is a major step forward in shaping the future of NHS Employers.

“It will allow us to be more flexible and streamlined to meet the needs of members and deliver services which add value to the NHS. In addition, it will strengthen our credentials as the independent voice of employers from across the NHS.”
