A
new Queen’s Award for people making outstanding contributions to the promotion
of enterprise has been announced by The Queen’s Awards Office and the Treasury.
The
Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion will go to individuals, complementing
the Queen’s Awards that reward collective efforts by the UK’s top-performing
businesses.
The
new award will celebrate a range of activities, from fostering novel methods of
mentoring young business people to outstanding leadership in promoting
entrepreneurship as a career option.
Nominations
can be made up until 31 October 2004.
Secretary
of state for trade and industry Patricia Hewitt said: "The
well-established Queen’s Awards for Enterprise clearly demonstrate the
extraordinary talent that exists among the UK’s business community. These
reward team efforts and set a level for other firms to aspire to.
"Matching
them, the new Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion will celebrate the
enterprising spirit and dynamism of individuals that exemplify the best of UK
innovation and creativity," she said.
