With reference to the scrapping of the Employers’ Organisation (EO) for local government (Personnel Today, 14 June), surely, the EO is responsible for more than pay negotiation?
Dropping it altogether for bungling one aspect of its many responsibilities does seem a tad heavy-handed.
I have just completed a business case for a partnership approach to procurement training and skills development. During my research, I found the EO to be at the forefront of best practice initiatives in local government – coaching, leadership development and graduate development, to name a few.
I hope there is a much better alternative to replace the EO – if indeed there are more reasons than made public for this decision.
