Holidaymakers could face disruption over the Bank Holiday weekend with ground staff at major airports threatening to strike in a row over pay.
Members of the Unite and GMB unions working for handling company Swissport are balloting over industrial action after accusing the company of reneging on a two-year pay deal.
The unions had been expecting a 2.75% pay rise from April under an agreement struck this time last year, but the company said falling business meant the deal was unaffordable.
A spokesman said: "Swissport has made every effort to minimise the impact of the current market conditions on its employees. Any industrial action will jeopardise such efforts and threaten future prosperity of the company and jobs."
