Support tax breaks for carers

Giving tax breaks to carers should be a no-brainer. It works for childcare, so why shouldn’t it work for eldercare?

The arguments are simple: the population is getting older, and more employees are going to have elderly relatives to look after.

Recognising this – and offering support – could help employers win the retention battle, and could help tackle tricky absence issues.

We need to call on the government to introduce these tax breaks in its spending review next year.
