The
T&G union has announced a series of strikes at Manchester Airport starting
next week over possible job losses and concerns over safety.
The
series of one and two-hour strikes will hit the airport from 4 February and
will be followed by strikes on 7, 9, 11,14 and 16 February.
The
union claims cuts to safety and security costs at Manchester Airport could mean
590 jobs are lost.

T&G
regional secretary Dave McCall said the union has no alternative but to take
industrial action. He highlighted the fact that the cuts are being considered
even though passenger numbers have increased at the airport by 26.3 per cent
over the last five years.
