Business
regulation coming from the EU is starting to slow, according to trade and
industry secretary Patricia Hewitt.
She
claims Brussels is taking heed of UK corporate concerns that too much
regulation is unnecessarily harming business. But that change will happen
slowly, said Hewitt in an interview with the Financial Times.Â
Her
comments followed a recent meeting on how to improve UK business dynamism,
attended by Hewitt and about 50 business leaders. Over-regulation was cited by
business leaders as their biggest bugbear.

Hewitt
said more had to be done at a European level to ensure the regulation is
appropriate before it is introduced.
